Drawings from Fall 2007

This is a collection of work from my Drawing 2 class, Fall 2007. My focus was on the 1920 German Expressionist film, Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari, or The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. I began by doing observational work of stills from the film, then I began to create my own compositions based on those drawings.

My first project of the semester, which inspired my professor to assign me to work from Dr. Caligari.

These images were created while the film was playing. They observed movement exercises with various mediums. This was to see which mediums resonated with the film, and what I should continue to pursue.

This is the beginning of my own compositions based off of Dr. Caligari. This is an example of a collection of pieces I did with my friends posing in front of a setting I made in my studio.

These are images drawn from pictures of myself posing with the setting I created. (I was wearing a black mask; the photos themselves are hilarious, but I can't show them to you because it would take the mystique away from these drawings.)
